I have some exciting news to share! I’m a new Volleyball Mom! My daughter made her first middle school sports team through hard work, skill, and focus. We are so excited to enter this new chapter because up until now we were sort of trying to figure out where her skill intersected with her interest.
Let me tell you, it took forever!!
We tried ballet, tap, soccer, softball, swimming, floor hockey, and who knows what else! While she still loves swimming and floor hockey, she absolutely LOVED volleyball. We noticed her natural skill and hustle bust through during a 6th grade exhibition game where all of the 6th grades in our school district played at the end of the school year. While it was sort of a free for all with kids jumping all over, my daughter was leaping, serving and swerving through the crowd.
We noticed that yes, she had a natural skill but still needed to learn how to play the game. My husband found a summer camp for her at Adelphi University as well as a 10 week clinic at Sportime where she learned the game. This was our strategy to prepare her for her first try out at her new school. We had no idea what to expect, so when she came home and told us that she made the team, were are absolutely elated!
If she hadn’t made the team, I was all set to sign her up for this new Volleyball program in Elmont that was started by a Valley Stream Mom. We still may sign her up at the end of the season if the program is available to her. It looks like a great program, so I encourage you to sign up your children as well.
Now that my daughter is officially part of the school team, I can start searching for Volleyball Mom tees, right? Here are a few I have in mind. Note: This post contains affiliate links. If you purchase one of the items below, I will receive a super small commission. We all win!
There are soooo many more to choose from. Maybe I’ll just start with three and add to the collection if she makes the team in 8th grade.
See you in the stands!
