The reality of an amazing summer came to a head today around 11 a.m. yesterday.
One of the VS Moms in my Facebook group announced, “The schedules are up!”
And yes, a day earlier than announced by the middle school our daughter will attend next month, her first class schedule was available.
Life as I knew it for the last seven years is changing. Our daily routine, support network, and drop off/pick up schedule will all change.
And change doesn’t always happen the way you want it to.
Moms across the community are realizing that they too need help with making sure their children are well taken care of when it comes to their safety in getting to/from schoo each day.
It reminds us that all are not as fortunate as others who have neither flexible work schedules nor the extra funds to pay for before/after school care.
But if we lean on one another we can hopefully take a little stress out of our already stressful lives.
But will you? You need a Parent Possee and here’s how you can create one.
- Ask your kid’s friends family to help
- Ask a neighbor who is going to the same school for assistance
- Offer to help a single parent who could be struggling with support
- Create a cooperative parent network where you each alternate school holidays so you all don’t have to use your vacation days
I encourage you to create a network of support to help ease your stress and vice versa.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. We all want to be Wonder Woman, and we are in many ways, but sometimes it’s okay to lean on others.
I gave up trying to do it all. I can’t and I won’t act like I can. I’ll drive myself crazy.
While I don’t have blood relatives within an hour of my home, my local family has helped me tremendously.
Now, ask yourself who can you ask to help you? Let’s make some calls and start recruiting your Parent Possee today.
