Hey there! What a week I had last week! While many of you are posting pictures of your kid’s first day of camp today, I’m thinking of sending out a search party for mine. We drove to OH last Sunday literally 2 days after my daughter’s 6th grade graduation and one day after our son’s 10th birthday party for their annual visit to my parent’s home.
After our 11 hour road trip with my dad in the back seat, we took a quick one our trip to Dearborn, MI where we showed the kids where I used to work in Public Relations at The Henry Ford.
The museum has changed so much in the last 15 years! I was excited to see my former boss who is still doing amazing things as is the museum. If you ever get a moment to visit The Henry Ford, please do so. I have so many fond memories there including the unveiling ceremony of The Rosa Parks Bus exhibit in which I worked on before getting married and moving to New York.
While we were in OH for a few days, we had another birthday celebration for not only my son who is now 10, but for my father who shares the same birthday as my son. He just turned 76 years old and has not slowed down a bit. Very thankful to still have my father with us moving and shaking.
Now for the start of my #MaCation2018! Hubby and I drove home just stay in our own bed for one night before packing a fresh bag to head into NYC for our staycation.
Last summer, we spend a week in Mexico which was absolutely amazing! This year, we celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary a few months late due to another event that happened on our actual anniversary weekend.
Last year, we attended a gala where we won an auction item that included a 2-night stay at The W Hotel in Times Square (yikes), movie passes, and brunch at The Rustik Tavern in Brooklyn. We also had dinner in Little Brazil where I had my very first Passion Fruit Caprihinia cocktail which was yummy and strong. Whew!
We enjoyed the beautiful nighttime view, late mornings, and the lounge/club where they had a live DJ each night. We snuggled, sipped, and danced a bit to the point where we both forgot we were just 30 minutes away from home. We also enjoyed Ocean’s 8 (girl power!), and a walk along The Highline Park on the westside of Manhattan, as well as a free concert Summer Stage in Central Park.
Our kids are enjoying not only our family in OH and have already spent the day at Cedar Point’s Waterpark, Tofts Ice Cream and fun nights, but they are so comfy that we have not heard from them. Thank goodness for Facebook or else I wouldn’t know how they’re doing.
Keep an eye on my IG page to see what else I’ll be doing the rest of the week.
