Before I get all the way into this post, I should let you know now that I dont do long lines, I don’t like large crowds, and I don’t like to wait very long.
I’m currently writing this post in a new barbershop as I contemplate walking out because a guy is constantly talking to the barber AS he cuts his kids hair.
Let the man do his job and have a seat because he’s about to lose a customer.
Now, about this Build-A- Bear debacle everyone is talking about.
What in the world were they thinking. I saw the promotion first shared in my group. I didn’t share it on my blog page at all because it seemed too good to be true.
And it was. By the time the mall officially opened, I heard there were about 500+ folks in line waiting for a “Pay Your Age Bear” for the people.
I would have done an about face at 30 people in line.
Remember, I don’t do lines.
As a Publicist and online digital marketing professional, it was a great PR stunt and attempt at growing their BAB Bonus Club Rewards Program. That’s what we all want is to build our audience by growing our email lists and member programs so we can market directly to you.
This was their opt-in method and it worked. A bit.
These social media algorithms are making businesses insane. It is causing businesses to make bad decisions.
While it did boost their rewards program enrollment for a day or so, I wonder how their enrollment is now.
It’s very easy to subscribe and unsubscribe these days. I wonder if they pulled this student in order to grow their list after the GDPR thing. Google that. Very complicated. It hit many company email lists hard last month or so.
Any hoo….we haven’t been in the BAB market for years ever since my son begged for a Star Wars outfit for his reindeer. I gave him 30 days to put it on the reindeer which never happened.
I returned it and got a gift card instead.
Oh, and I walked out of that barber shop and went back to our old one. They didn’t even say yellow when we walked in. I gave the a good 20 minutes of my time.
