Like many of you, I wanted to start 2018 off with better eating habits. After learning about the Wholesome Pantry line at ShopRite, the future looks a little brighter for me. Over the years, I have realized that preparation is the absolute key to success. A few years ago, I was told that I have acid reflux and have had struggled with bouts of gastritis. There’s nothing fun about having the constant feeling of an upset stomach and you’re unsure why.
After having an endoscopy a few years ago and a second one mast fall, I was placed on a restrictive diet that I followed. For a little while. Now I’m back to eating what I want, which isn’t a good thing. I just celebrated a birthday and honey, these pounds aren’t coming off the way they used to nor are the meals digesting they way they should. I have to wear a white gown to a gala in May and after having hernia surgery in February, I’m a little behind.
I recently realized that if you plan your meals, especially your snacks, you’re on the path to better eating habits. Who doesn’t like to snack? At any time, those little pesky hunger pangs could appear at any given moment. And they do! If you’re unprepared, the first thing you go for are those salty chips, or sugary snack.
ShopRite recently launched their new Wholesome Pantry Line which is composed of both USDA-certified organic items, and “free-from” products made with simple, clean ingredients without artificial additives, flavors, colors and preservatives.
The entire line of snacks elevates the snacking experience by returning to simple, authentic ingredients at an affordable price point. Since launching in December 2016, ShopRite has introduced hundreds of Wholesome Pantry products, extending to nearly every aisle, including frozen, produce, dairy, and meat, along with more than 35 wholesome snack varieties.
I was invited to sample a few items from the line and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious they were. Some think that eating healthy means eating bland food items. Not necessarily so, my friend.
Here’s what they sent me:
- Wholesome Pantry Almond Butter – A delectable nut butter with the perfect balance of flavor, smoothness and creaminess
- Wholesome Pantry Organic Energy Mix – A satisfying mix of sunflower seed, organic raisins, dried cranberries, nuts and dried apples
- Wholesome Pantry Freeze Dried Fuji Apple Fruit Crisps – Flavorful and portable, these low-calorie treats are great on the go
- Wholesome Pantry Organic Crushed Pepper and Truffle Oil Popcorn – Finished with a hint of elegant truffle oil and a dash of spicy pepper for a purely rich treat
- Wholesome Pantry Organic Pecan Halves – Packed with nutrients, these nuts enrich favorite recipes or can be enjoyed along as a snack
What’s not showing in my photo is the Freeze Dried Fuji Apple Fruit Crisps because a certain 9.5 year old boy grabbed them and took them to school for his snack. It looks like I’ll be making a trip to ShopRite soon. He also enjoyed sampling the popcorn.
I do need to warn you about being careful when opening the Almond Butter jar. There is about 1.5 inches of oil that sits at the top of the butter. As I opened the jar, it splattered on my nice Nikon camera!
Be sure to visit their website for more delicious items and recipes.
