You may or may not know that my family and I have been vacationing in Martha’s Vinyard over the last few years and have fallen in love. We’ve not only fallen in love with the beaches, vibe of the island, and hospitality, but we’ve fallen in love with the food. The Village Raw Bar reminds us of that vibe but also has probably the most amazing fresh seafood around.
My husband and I went on a double date last week and ever since then, I’ve dreamed of going right back. I just learned that our friends actually did go back two days later. That’s how good the food is. Let me tell you, these crab fries will have you feigning for more. I don’t know what the sauce is drizzled atop, but it compliments the fresh, shredded crab and fried to perfection french fries.
The Village Raw Bar is family owned by L.J. Sealey-Ashford, who’s family of raw bar restaurants go back 35 years in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. In the kitchen we have Chef David Warren who deserves all the praise for bringing me the best lobster roll and fries ever.
“We are a fast casual, fresh seafood dining experience that focuses on preparing and serving clean, high quality North Atlantic seafood dishes paired with handcrafted, Caribbean-vacation-themed beverages and cocktails, craft beers and wines. Our mission is to provide a great restaurant quality experience in a quaint neighborhood eatery.”
Ever since I’ve been introduced to lobster rolls, I haven’t been able to find one to my exact liking. I almost jumped out of my seat when I saw that the The Village Raw Bar offered both cold and warm classic lobster rolls a.k.a. Bob’s XL Lobster Roll on a butter toasted bun with or without mayo. I’m. In. Love.
The lobster roll was soooo good! Oh, but wait, I forgot to tell you how flavorful the New England Clam Chowdah (yes, chowdah) was. It was filled with chunks of both clam and potato. The ratio was just right and whatever this drizzle is on top gave it an extra punch of flavor as well.
Did I say I was in love?
You’ll also be surprised to find a few Caribbean themed items sprinkled in the items which celebrates the owners’ heritage as well. Offerings like the jerk chicken wings for an appetizer, Barbados Jerk Chicken (1/2 portion) as an entree, and Punch Drunk Love to wash it all down.
Get there as soon as you.
