This post is sponsored by Dr. Isaac Pearlman of Valley Stream Dental.
The extent of my dental work during my lifetime included braces as a teen, and I had two wisdom teeth pulled as an adult. But the worst I’ve had was a root canal and crown over 10 years ago by other dentists. After moving to Valley Stream, my husband found Dr. Isaac Pearlman just blocks away from our home. His office is located at 41 W. Merrick Road in Valley Stream, NY. When I say easy going, pleasant, professional, and punctual I mean it.
These are just the traits needed for those who have anxiety towards dentists.
The first time I took my daughter to some Brooklyn dentist at the age of about two years old, she peed on me. The dentist suggested that I put her on my lap while he examined her in the chair. It was the hardest thing I had ever experienced as a mother up until that point. She never even let the dentist into her mouth and he still charged me. That was over 10 years ago.
Luckily, she didn’t develop a fear of the dentist like many. But hey, we have to at least go for our checkups twice each year. If you don’t, you’re doing yourself a disservice.
Did you know that oral health is related to your overall health?
Getting back to that root canal I mentioned earlier. Recently, I had to have a crown replaced and after a consultation and pre-dental work with Dr. Pearlman, it was a breeze. Yes, I had to take a needle, but it wasn’t as bad as I had remembered in the past and there was absolutely no pain following the procedure.
I asked a few friends what they disliked/liked about going to the dentist:
I like a dentist that cares more about preserving my teeth instead of trying to make money in my mouth! – Denise
I don’t like the sound of the cleaning tools. They actually give me anxiety. I don’t mind having the cleaning, but the sound makes me anxious! I clench my hands together on my stomach until my appointment is over – Vera
I love going to the dentist because of the clean teeth feeling where you feel the dimensions of your teeth with your tongue after the cleaning. All the tiny crevices in between your teeth come alive – Neerja
When I see other people ask for dentist referrals on social media, the most common feedback on Dr. Pearlman I see is:
- Love Dr. Pearlman! I am a huge baby when it comes to the dentist!
- Dr. Pearlman was recommended to me and he replaced a crown that fell out. He’s great!
- Clean office, pleasant demeanor, and always on schedule
To go even further with how thoughtful he is, he’s offering new patients an amazing deal which you can see in the add above. Be sure to mention that you heard about it on Valley Stream Mom.
Years ago while I lived in Michigan, I sat in my then dentist’s waiting room. I was there for a filling which I had never had before. I hated the sound of the drill. I still do. I actually got up to leave. I was more afraid of the needle which is why I elected not to have Novocaine back then because I was that scared. Even my mom recalls me taking dental work like a boss! Thank goodness for Dr. Pearlman who keeps me at ease.
According to Dentalhealth.org, the best way to fight periodontal disease and health issues linked to oral bacteria is to have a good oral hygiene regimen.
- Heart disease – Bacteria in the bloodstream can travel to the heart and lead to a heart attack.
- Stroke – There are a number of reasons why a stroke may occur – one of them is the narrowing of artery walls and another is blood clots. It is believed that oral bacteria may be a contributing factor to the arteries narrowing as well as blood clots easily forming because of the body’s negative response to the bacteria in the bloodstream.
I know you brush daily, but one of the keys to keeping your gums and teeth healthy from disease is by the removal of plaque. Unless you have the necessary tools and skilled know-how to remove your own plaque, you need to visit the dentist.
I personally recommend Dr. Pearlman for your dental needs. He is a family, implant, and cosmetic dentist who is also offering a special for new patients. Now go schedule your appointment and mention Valley Stream Mom when you call.
