A few years ago, my son was grounded from playing video games for about two weeks. During this time, he had nothing else to do outside of schoolwork, chores, and any extra curricular activities he was already involved in.
The funniest thing happened during these two weeks. He became an avid sports fan. No, he became a sports fanatic. He became so enamored with baseball that he eventually knew everything about The Mets. I don’t know if he actually remembers that his first professional game was when I was a Mets Mom and we were hosted by the team. The kids got enjoyed running the bases and Dad and I enjoyed the generous gift card we used at the concession stand.
Blogging has its perks.
Let me tell you, this kid can spit out almost every fact there is on the Mets. I don’t know how he’s able to store and recall as many statistics as he can, but he can definitely roll with the big dogs when discussing his favorite baseball team.
Along the way, he also became a Giants fan and loves wearing his favorite Giants hoodie. Even though they aren’t doing all that great, he’s still a fan. Oh, and let me tell you. We were tossing around a football earlier this year during a family event and discovered that he can catch a football really well.
I’m not sure if being a wide receiver is in his future, but it’s definitely in his blood. Yours truly was the wide receiver during my high school senior year’s annual Powder Puff football game.
I got mad skills. And I can throw the ball too. Of course, I’m not bragging…..
In honor of my son’s love for sports, I wanted to put together Cole’s Favorite Things Gift Guide and share with you a few things that your sports lover may want this holiday season. .
