I noticed last year that we have a popcorn addict in the house. Everyday after school, my daughter would come home each day and grab a bag of microwaveable popcorn for a snack. Every Day! So when the moms in Valley Stream started chatting about a new place in Lynbrook called, Popcorn Buddha, I had to stop by to see what it was all about.
When I’m not in the know about something, trust me when I say the Valley Stream Moms are. You can’t get ANYTHING by these moms when it comes to new restaurants, products, or services. Thanks for the intel, moms!
Just around the corner from Doughology, there it was. It was deliciously overwhelming. The colors and flavors were in these large tins against the wall labeled with every imaginable flavor you could think of.
The ones that stuck out to me the most were cotton candy (shown above), fudge, pumpkin pie, macaroni and cheese, and orange. There were sooooo many different flavors. Popcorn Buddha has at least 85 flavors on hand, but can make up to 125 based on the season. Of course pumpkin anything and Witches Brew are the current season favorites right now.
I sampled macaroni and cheese, dill pickle, and oreo popcorn which were all….different. I think some of these flavors will take some getting used to. But there are plenty of flavors to choose from. They’re also available to purchase on line if you’re too far away by car.
I was given a quick tour by owner (his name escapes me now) and Lynbrook Dad who is the 2nd owner of the chain originally based in The Poconos. What a nice guy! You can’t love popcorn and be a grump. It just doesn’t fit with the job.
I caught Lynbrook Mom Rose Marie (those are her hands) churning up some delicious fudge for a batch of popcorn. I was surprised when she told me that she knew who I was and is a follower on Valley Stream Mom! She also shared with me that she used to work in the city, but after becoming a mother, this was a great job to apply for since it’s close to home. Girl, we all know the struggle!
Be sure to stop by for a taste, a gift or party favor, or some home made fudge made in the store as well and tell them Valley Stream Mom sent you.
