Growing up, I’ve never had an issue with my weight. I was always the skinny one in the family. I’ve never been one of those people who diets often to lose weight. Up until a few years ago, I just simply cut back on certain foods and made enjoyed a few exercise classes. I also used to walk on the treadmill. That incline will make you sweat won’t it?
But now that I’m over 40, losing weight takes a little more work than just scaling back the fast foods and extra time at the gym. According to Web MD, these 14 ways to shed pounds after 40 will help me reach my goal of losing 20 pounds.
A few doable tips that caught my eye are:
- I need to get the big meals in before 3 p.m.
- Burn calories by building muscle
- Getting more sleep
- Allowing little stress in my life
Some of these are hard to do when you have two active kids and a very active lifestyle. Not active like in exercise active, but in running a.k.a. driving here and there all the time. Everyday.
I have recently begun a plank challenge along with push ups to help get rid of this belly fat. I’m doing somewhat better with eliminating soda but boy…I crave that burn sometimes. I also want to purchase my own bicycle this summer.
Recently diagnosed with both Acid Reflux (which I had in my late 20s but disappeared before returning two years ago) and being lactose intolerant, I can’t always have those carbonated beverages or creamy cheese sauces with my meals. Although, I do keep those Lactaid pills close by in case I get weak.
I have to make some changes in order to keep up with the kids and younger husband…. Some changes I have been successful at and others…well, I’m a work in progress.
