Today was a perfect day for Splish Splash in every way. In exchange for this honest review, Valley Stream Mom was given comp tickets to explore the park.
We decided to go on a Monday with hopes that the park wouldn’t be overly crowded…. and we were right! No lines! No waiting!
Thankfully, it wasn’t super hot either. The weather was perfect! We noticed a clean and shaded picnic area right off of the parking lot when we arrived. That’s a very nice addition for those who want to enjoy the park without spending a fortune on in-park food. You can pack your own cooler for lunch and save a few pennies.
I took my mom and 3 sons, who are 14, 7 & 5 years old. Having another adult when you have a large age difference in children is very helpful. While I went on more daring rides with my 7 & 14 year olds, my mom would stay with my 5 year old or take him to something he would like; then she and I would swap responsibility so everyone could enjoy all the water rides.
We experienced Dinosaur Falls, which was a moderate water slide for kids 7 and up. It was an exhilarating way to start the day. As we zipped down the winding watery slide we were met with peeking Dilophosaurus statues that spit water at us.
There was a large shaded area in the Kidz Cove so we could relax as my 5 & 7 year old slipped down the gentle kiddie slides carefully maned by life guards. There are small water falls and swings in the middle of a 2.5 foot wadding pool.
We pinged back and forth across the park, from the large wading pool to the super fast and adrenaline pumping Dragons Dens. After a few hours of water rides, we settled down for some yummy snacks. While it was quite pricey, at least it was tasty and satisfying. For the five of us, we shared two substantial baskets of chicken tenders and fries, an additional order of fries, a cheeseburger with fries, and 3 drinks. It cost us a total of $40 because we wanted cheese sauce for our fries which are a $1 per 2 oz container.
We wrapped up our day at the Lazy River, which is a 20 minute, relaxing tube ride where you just float gently down the river. There are waterfalls and music playing. I think at one point, I saw someone taking a nap in an inner tube.
We really enjoyed our day at Splish Splash! As we were leaving, we decided to have one more treat “For The Road”. My boys enjoyed funnel cake with whipped cream and chocolate syrup, Good Humor Ice Cream, and a few Churros (a delightful Mexican doughnut that’s fried and covered in cinnamon sugar).
It was a happy day for all!
