Here comes the season of pool parties and beach trips with the kids. Whether you can swim or not – everyone can enjoy sitting by the water and soaking up the sun, right? Not if you’re a mom who has young kids that have never “officially” learned the dos and don’ts of water safety. That’s when being around a pool or lake with the kids is no longer a relaxing and fun experience. In fact, it’s nerve-wracking and what parent wants to spend the summer worrying about their kids every time they’re at a pool party?
So, I had to do some research, and my timing couldn’t be more perfect. I learned that Goldfish Swim School, the fastest-growing swim school franchise, is on a mission to teach water safety right here in Garden City, NY. What’s cool is that Goldfish chose our community for its newest franchise because it has a huge concentration of growing families. What a comforting solution to what could be – a frightful experience.
On June 3 at 1 p.m., Goldfish will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at their new location at 650 Stewart Avenue, Suite 25 (just south of Roosevelt Field mall). Following the ceremony, Goldfish will offer a family open swim from 6:30–8:00 p.m. where you can have fun bonding with your child while learning water safety. The fun continues on June 4 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. with an open house full of prizes and giveaways, a photo booth, balloon artist, face painting, crafts, snacks and more.
Goldfish officially opens its doors on June 7 offering a variety of classes including their Jump Start Clinics, which are designed for parents who want to get their kids educated about water safety just in time for summer. The clinics include five consecutive days of 30-minute lessons. Other swimming lesson options are also available with family-friendly scheduling and payment arrangements. You can even observe your child’s lesson from an air-conditioned viewing gallery.
Goldfish Swim School was established in 2006 teaching children ages 4 months to 12 years old how to swim year-round in a fun and safe environment. In fact, safety is such an important factor that they maintain a 4:1 student-to-teacher ratio. The Garden City location will employ 30 instructors with their pools custom-made for teaching – with the deepest end measuring at 4 ½ feet and water temperatures kept at a comfortable 90 degrees.
