I made it through the weekend in one piece and with a little bit of common sense.
I know I’m not the only one to have busy weekends, but it sure felt like it.
Here’s what I/we did in photos. What’s not listed, is the intimate dinner party my husband and I shared with friends. I think I was pretty quiet at the party because I was so tired. Oh, but the food was delicious!
I chaparoned my son’s 2ND grade class to Molloy College for a STEAM program where they got to touch a real, sheep’s brain!
News: my son will NOT be a doctor for now.
They created art using color, strips of paper and glue. I can’t recall the technique or method they mimicked but the professor did a great job!
Created parachutes with string, coffee filters and army men and timed then to see which group’s had the longest hang time.
After the field trip and my daughter’s hockey game, I taught the Girl Scouts in Troop 2495 a few lessons in etiquette. That was fun!
The next morning, we were out of almost everything and by that I mean pancake mix. So instead of going to the store, I made them from scratch! I used a recipe from AllRecipes.com. They came out a little hard but everyone ate them anyway.
My son had a Cub Scout moving up ceremony and Blue and Gold Dinner where the theme was Star Wars. I haven’t downloaded all of my photos from my Nikon D3200 yet, but here is one we took with the 501st Legion. They volunteered their time and made an appearance for the boys. The kids, young and old, loved it!
On Sunday, we took the kids into the city for the Kids Food Fest at Bryant Park. They took a cooking class in what felt like a greenhouse and sampled healthy food options for kids. More details coming up!
Caption: Really, Mom?
My picky eater sampling a few items and he actually liked them.
The highlight of my day was realizing there was a Waffle and Dinges shop nearby!
Just around the corner was the main NYC Library. We took the kids in to show them where daddy used to study while in Law School.
They were able to color on the wall…
My artist viewed various sketches on the wall….
…and I snapped a photos of them in front of Fleetwood Coup DeVille from The Wiz. I know this isn’t his name, but if you know the movie you know what I’m talking about.
This is why I love Monday’s. The kids go back to school and my life quiets down for a bit. What a weekend!
