I’ve been sitting on this blog post for weeks now. I wasn’t sure if I should share this or suffer alone. Blogging is about being transparent, so here goes. I’m going through a bit of an identity crisis. Not personally because I know who I am and yes, I love me some me. But this blogging thing is starting to pull me in a direction that I really want to go in, but do you want to come with me? There lies the confusion.
The question I have been battling is, am I a Mommy Blogger or a Mommy who blogs? Mommy bloggers tend to blog about events in the community, their personal lives, poop, coupons, deals, giveaways, contests, etc. The kind of blogging I want to do is current events which relate to women, mothers, and children. These issues can be community, state, and national issues and yes, there are a lot of issues to keep me busy. I also want to blog about parental issues I see in the media which are totally ridiculous and give my opinion on well, a little bit of everything.
Would you care?
I’m realizing that being a mommy is more than just about wanting to know where to take my kids for the weekend. It’s also about finding balance in my life, dealing with parental issues like the few I dealt with this week and so, so, so much more. Woosah!!
If you don’t know, I am a publicist by profession. It’s natural for me to share information with others. I can find an angle in just about any topic you give me and find some relevance to it making it interesting. Blogging is a far cry from what some of the projects I used to work with. For example, I worked around significant artifacts such as the Presidential limo J.F. Kennedy was assassinated in. I did PR for the refurbishing of the chair President Abraham Lincoln sat in at the theatre the day he was shot and later died. I have worked with film crews, international journalists, coordinated press events, film screenings, and so much more. Including working on a project that involved Civil Rights icon, Rosa Parks. Yep.
This is why I want…no, I HAVE to do more than just promote children’s events.
But I will continue to keep you in the loop about events for children. Just not on a daily basis. That’s what the calendar is for. The event process is a tedious one and I need an intern, or my mom, to keep up with it. If I’m inputting every event into the calendar that’s already available on your library’s website, I can’t blog about current events. Things that truly affect our lives as women, mothers, and children here in our community, county, state, and country. I want to keep you in the loop about education, health, women’s issues, etc.
But I also want to inform you about saving $5 on…..you get where I’m going. I also have another blog I’ll be working on from time to time which is where I will share my 10th year wedding vow renewal plans. I’ll be sure to link it to this blog.
Looking at my blog right now, I’m all over the place. Or at least that’s how I feel right now.
What do you like most about my blog? What should I get rid of?
