Inauguration weekend is just a few days away and I wanted to share some of the activities and events just for kids. There’s a huge concert for kids hosted by the First and Second Ladies of the U.S. featuring many popular artists listed below. It’s actually kinda cool that kids are included in what would otherwise be dreadfully dull for them. We took out kids to DC 4 years ago, but left them at the apartment with grandma. It was no place for little ones. If you have a course of action for visiting monuments and National Parks, go for it. Below is a listing of kid-friendly activities for kids.

Day of Service - Saturday, January 19th, 2013
President Obama will ask Americans across the country to organize and participate in service projects in their communities to honor our shared values and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On this day, President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Biden, Dr. Jill Biden, and members of the President’s Cabinet will participate in service projects in the Washington, D.C. area.

Kids’ Inaugural: Our Children, Our Future - Saturday, January 19th, 2013
Through initiatives such as Let’s Move! and Joining Forces, First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden have made America’s children and military families two of their most important priorities in the White House.
As part of their continued commitment, Mrs. Obama and Dr. Biden will host a concert for America’s children and families as part of the 57th Presidential Inaugural, titled “Kids’ Inaugural: Our Children. Our Future.” It will take place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on January 19th, the Saturday evening before the inauguration, and will highlight support for military spouses and children, honoring and celebrating their service and sacrifice. (email me for a link to purchase tickets while supplies last.)
The artist line up over the weekend include Alicia Keys, Brad Paisley, Katy Perry, Usher, the cast of Glee, Stevie Wonder and more will be performing at this year’s Kids’ Inaugural. Tickets are pretty steep and I have a link for you if you want it.
Performances are scheduled on the West Front of the capitol where other performers join Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor, already announced for Obama’s signing ceremony Jan. 21 on the West Front of the Capitol.
